Ian Tomlinson post-mortem delayed for unexplained reason

[update 18:19 4 April]
The post-mortem has found that Ian Tomlinson died of 'natural causes'.

[update 17:05 3 April]
Gaza Solidarity spoke to City of London police and, once they realised who Ian Tomlinson was, were able to say they had no information on whether a post-mortem was being carried out today or if/why it had been delayed.

We then spoke to Paul Taylor, the coroner's officer, who was extremely uncooperative and would only say that he was not obliged to give out any information as there was no inquest taking place.

Asked how the mainstream media was able to report that the post-mortem would be taking place today Taylor stated that the information had not come from his office.

A further question was asked concerning the amount of time that has now lapsed between Ian's death and a post-mortem being carried out, and the implications this has for doctors being able to accurately ascertain the cause of death, was met by silence.

The post-mortem into the death of protester Ian Tomlinson has now been delayed until this evening (Friday 3 April).

The Independent Police Complaints Commission press office is unable to tell us why this is the case and we are waiting for a callback from the City of London police.

The IPCC was originally lead to believe that the post-mortem was to have been carried out yesterday.
