Egypt intercepts resistance rocket shipments - hopefully other arms got through

Followers of this blog will know that we are ardent supporters of the right of Palestinians to fightback and therefore receive this news with disappointment but trust that many more shipments have got through to the al-Qassam brigades.

Egyptian security forces uncovered an immense munitions cache near the Israeli border, the Arab language London-based newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported on Friday.

An Egyptian official assessed that the 266 rockets, 51 mortar shells, 21 grenades and 43 mines found in northern Sinai were meant to be smuggled to Hamas forces in the Gaza Strip.

Last Monday, Egypt discovered a large quantity of ammunition intended for Hamas use near Ismaeliya, Sinai.

Support striking Palestinian quarry workers demanding their rights from Israeli employer

On 16 June, 35 Palestinian workers at Salit Quarries in Mishor Adumim (in area C, east of Jerusalem, in the Occupied West Bank) began a strike. The workers, organized with the independent union WAC-Ma'an, are demanding an end to exploitation and humiliation, and insist on signing a first collective agreement. Salit Quarries’ main customer is Readymix Industries (Israel). The total reliance of Salit Quarry on Readymix as their biggest and by far the most important customer puts responsibility on Readymix to make sure that their clients abides by labour laws and safeguards elementary rights for the workers of Salit.
