Israelis step up collective punishment with demo against fuel supplies to Gaza
The anti-Arab racism that has become something of an illness in Israel will be on display today when protesters demonstrate against the delivery of industrial fuel to Gaza. The protesters are demanding the release of prisoner of war Gilad Shalit but think nothing of the needs of the 1.5 million Gazans languishing in the open-air prison constructed by the settler state. The move is even more heinous given that Gaza's only power plant is currently desperately short of fuel.
The Task Force for the Release of Gilad Shalit will demonstrate Tuesday at various crossings into Gaza and attempt to stop the delivery of fuels to the Hamas-controlled area. The action is the group's way of reminding the public that the fuel "lubricates" the Hamas government, which was joined by other terror groups in abducting the Israeli soldier in a murderous raid on the Kerem Shalom army base on June 25, 2006.
