Islamic Jihad warns Israel on end to ceasefire over prisoners


GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Islamic Jihad in Gaza said on Friday it will not continue a ceasefire with Israel while Palestinians jailed in Israel die from medical negligence.

On Monday, Ashraf Abu Threa died from ongoing health complications, just months after his release from Israeli jail.

At an Islamic Jhad rally for prisoners in Gaza City, Jihad leader Khalid al-Batsh warned: "Those who count on resistance movements to be too patient are mistaken."

"We will never agree to bargain over the blood of our prisoners jailed by Israel," he continued. more

Official: Gaza facing domestic gas shortage


GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Gaza is facing a shortage of cooking gas, an official said Friday, calling for more deliveries through an Israeli-controlled crossing.

Samir Hamada, from Gaza's society of petrol companies, said suppliers of gas for domestic use have almost run out of fuel.

He said Gaza's daily gas requirements is 250 tons, while on average around 150 tons are being delivered through the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing each day.

The official called for expansion of the fuel transfer capacity at Kerem Shalom. more
