GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli military vehicles entered the southern Gaza Strip early Wednesday, and Palestinian militants responded by detonating an explosive device near the vehicles, locals and an army spokeswoman said.
Witnesses told Ma'an that the military vehicles levelled Palestinian agricultural fields dozens of meters away from the border with Israel in al-Qarara east of Khan Younis.
Militants detonated an explosive devise remotely, damaging a vehicle but causing no injuries.
Israeli forces responded by firing mortar shells into open fields without causing any injuries, locals said.
Military helicopters hovered over the area throughout the exchange. more
