IOF soldiers gun down Palestinian youth in al-Khalil


AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) shot dead a Palestinian young man in Aroub refugee camp in al-Khalil afternoon Tuesday during confrontations with the camp inhabitants.

Eyewitnesses told the PIC that IOF soldiers fired live ammo during attempts to quell demonstrations in the camp, adding that one of those bullets hit 21-year-old Mohammed Emad al-Jawabra in his torso.

They said that the youth was pronounced dead shortly after his injury, adding that many others suffered various wounds in the ongoing clashes between the heavily-armed troops and the unarmed camp inhabitants.

Similar clashes are still raging in various West Bank towns and bypass roads in addition to the cities of al-Khalil, Nablus, and Jerusalem. more

Palestinian dead, 2 injured in Gaza tanker truck explosion


A Palestinian man was killed and two others were injured early Tuesday when a tanker truck carrying diesel fuel from Israel to the Gaza Strip exploded on the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom crossing, medics said.

Medical sources said 17-year-old Muhammad Ahmad Bahloul was killed and his father Ahmad Yousef Bahloul sustained serious burns in the incident.

Another 60-year-old man sustained moderate wounds.

The injured men and the body of the dead teen were taken to Shifa hospital in Gaza City, ministry of health spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said. more

Ban forms panel to investigate events during the recent war on Gaza


NEW YORK, (PIC)-- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced Monday the formation of an independent panel aimed at reviewing “certain incidents reported during the recent Israeli military actions in Gaza Strip”.

In a statement attributed to his spokesperson, the Secretary-General declared that he had established the “internal and independent” UN Headquarters Board of Inquiry to review and investigate “a number of specific incidents reported between 8 July to 26 August.”

The Secretary-General called for a thorough investigation into incidents where UN facilities – including schools run by the UN agency tasked with assisting Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) – sustained hits resulting in the deaths of numerous innocent civilians and UN staff members, the spokesperson added.

The Board will also “review and investigate incidents in which weapons were found to be present on United Nations premises”, he continued. more

Palestinian worker shot dead in Israel


A Palestinian worker was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in Israel early Tuesday, Palestinian security sources said.

The sources told Ma'an that the Israeli liaison department had officially notified its Palestinian counterpart that Nihad Mufid Ahmad Nalowa, 35, had been shot dead in the town of Zemer in Triangle area near the border with the West Bank.

Nalowa is from the village of Shweika in the West Bank district of Tulkarem.

The shooter has not yet been identified, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Nalowa's body will be transferred back to the West Bank after Israeli police complete an initial investigation, the sources said.

An Israeli police spokesman did not answer calls seeking comment. more
