Israeli forces overnight Monday destroyed the home belonging to the family of a Palestinian prisoner convicted of stabbing to death an Israeli settler last year.
Locals told Ma'an that a large number of Israeli troops stormed the third-story apartment belonging to Mahir Hamdi Hashlamoun in the Zaytoun outskirts of Hebron in the southern West Bank shortly after midnight.
They then forcibly evicted the family before beginning controlled demolitions inside the apartment.
"I wanted to tell everybody that they shouldn't feel angry because we are happy with this, as we had endowed this house to God and we now believe that the endowment has been accepted," Hashlamoun's wife said in an interview with a local radio station.
She added: "The enemy won't find a way to ruin our happiness, and all we are concerned about is Mahir’s release, so pray for him."
Hashlamoun was detained in November after he ran over and then stabbed to death an Israeli woman near the Gush Etzion settlement bloc south of Bethlehem last November. Hashlamoun wounded two other people before an Israeli security guard shot and wounded him. more
