Palestinian shot, killed in East Jerusalem

Israeli forces on Monday shot and killed a Palestinian man in East Jerusalem after an alleged stabbing attempt, Israeli police said.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said the unidentified suspect pulled out a knife at officers and was shot dead at the scene.

The incident occurred near Lion's Gate, with the area closed off afterwards.

Israeli media reported that border police asked a Palestinian man to take his hands out of his pockets after becoming suspicious, at which point the suspect attempted to attack the officer.

Palestinian witnesses told Ma'an that there was no attempted stabbing at the time, and the man was shot dead as he was walking in the area.

The latest death brings the total number of Palestinians killed to 25 since the beginning of October.

On Sunday, Israeli forces shot dead a 13-year-old boy during clashes south of al-Bireh in Ramallah district, medics said. more
