The valiant efforts to heal trauma among Gaza’s children

From Mondoweiss - As the devastation in Gaza continues unabated, teams of medical professionals work to combat the psychological impact on children raised in that densely populated and blockaded human laboratory. Many of those children have already lived through 3 major military offenses. I saw a photo today of some of those beautiful kids — visiting the graves of their fathers and brothers killed in Gaza during the summer slaughter of 2014 — and wondered how those kids were holding up.

Reminded of some people I met who cycle around the globe raising funds for children’s mental health in Gaza, I visited Cycling4Gaza’s (C4G) Facebook page and coincidentally intercepted some drawings they’d posted from the Gaza Mental Healthcare Project, launched in partnership with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). Video: Did Israeli soldier plant knife on teen killed by settler?

A video published on Facebook by Youth Against Settlements shows the moments after an Israeli settler shot dead a Palestinian teenager in Hebron, Saturday.
At 12 seconds into the video, one soldier hands off an object to another soldier, who appears to drop it by the body.

The video has raised suspicions that the soldiers planted a knife.

This came on a day when five Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces, raising the death toll since the start of the month to more than 40. more

Two more Palestinians killed following alleged stabbings

Two Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces on Saturday evening, after allegedly carrying out separate stabbing attacks in Hebron and Qalandia, in the occupied West Bank.

Their deaths bring the total number of Palestinians killed on Saturday to five, in each case after they allegedly attempted to carry out stabbing attacks, although Palestinian sources have contested that at least one of those attacks actually took place.

In central Hebron, a Palestinian was shot and critically wounded after he allegedly stabbed and moderately injured an Israeli soldier on Shuhada Street in the Old City.

The Palestinian was taken to Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem where he succumbed to his wounds, a hospital spokesperson said.

He was identified as Tareq Ziad an-Natsha, aged 22.

Israeli media reported that the Israel soldier was stabbed in the shoulder, and an Israeli army spokesperson said he had been evacuated for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, at Qalandia checkpoint to the south of Ramallah, a Palestinian man was shot dead after he allegedly stabbed and injured an Israeli border police officer.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld alleged that the Palestinian was shot with the "knife in his hand." more

Thousands march in London in support of Palestine

Thousands of people marched during the Palestine Solidarity Campaign's demonstration in London in support of the Palestinian people in front of the Israeli embassy on Saturday, the campaign said.

The campaign said that more than 3000 protesters from all sectors of society, including many Jewish supporters, chanted "free free Palestine" and marched in front of the Israeli embassy.

The Participants condemned Israel's daily violations against Palestinians and Israel's "policy if extrajudicial killings of Palestinians" who could have otherwise been arrested and brought in front of a court, the campaign said.

Speakers at the march proclaimed their support for the Palestinian people and said they would continue their support until Palestinians were granted their rights, including Palestinian refugees' "right of return," which is supported by international law. more
