New trial dates have been set for Tristan Anderson’s civil case against the Israeli Military. The new dates follow a recent ruling from the High Court of Israel forcing the Israeli Police to re-open their investigation into the near fatal shooting, which occurred when Israeli Border Police opened fire on a crowd of Palestinian and international activists following a protest against the building of the Apartheid “Seperation” Wall in the West Bank village of Ni’ilin March 13, 2009. Tristan was shot in the face from close range with a high velocity tear gas grenade, causing severe damage to his brain and paralysis to half his body. The Israeli High Court has ordered the police to actually interview the officers involved in the shooting, who to date have never been questioned about it. more

Thanks to the International Solidarity Movement On 13 March 2009, Israeli Border Police officers shot US activist from California,Tristan Anderson, in the head with a high velocity tear-gas projectile during a demonstration in the West Bank Village of Ni’ilin. He was shot from a distance of about 40 meters away, at a time when no clashes or protesters were in his immediate vicinity. As a result of the shooting, Anderson suffered serious brain damage and the loss of his eye, as well as being paralyzed on half of his body. His injuries prevent him from functioning as an independent adult. A criminal investigation into the incident by the Israeli police is still pending. Proceedings in the Anderson family’s civil suit against the State of Israel will begin on Thursday at the Jerusalem District Court in Jerusalem. CAMBRIDGE University students are holding a vigil after a close friend of one was shot in the head in Gaza. Dozens of students gathered outside the city's Guildhall at 5pm yesterday (Thursday, 19 March) as activist Tristan Anderson fought for his life in a Tel Aviv hospital. The 37-year-old American is a close friend of a Darwin student, who cannot be named. He has been at Tristan's bedside and will return to the West Bank to continue the protest against the wall built by the Israelis. Tristan was critically injured on Friday when Israeli soldiers fired a tear gas canister at his head at the close of a weekly non-violent protest. He underwent brain surgery on Saturday, and parts of his right frontal lobe and shattered bone fragments were removed. Monday marked the sixth anniversary of the death of Rachel Corrie - deliberately crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer as she tried to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes. Unfortunately Tristan Anderson has become the the most recent American citizen to be critically injured by Israel. He sustained a large hole in the right part of his forehead where he was struck by a tear gas canister. The heavy impact from the tear gas canister being shot directly at him, from about 60 meters, also caused severe damage to his right eye, which he may lose. Tristan underwent brain surgery in which part of his right frontal lobe and shattered bone fragments were removed.
