GAZA CITY - At least three Palestinians resistance fighter were killed on Monday in a gun battle with Israeli forces along the border with the Gaza Strip, medics and the military said.
An Israeli army spokesman said ground troops backed by a helicopter gunship engaged in a firefight with resistance fighters who had opened fire near the heavily-fortified frontier between Israel and the enclave.
At least another 12 Palestinians were wounded in the clash near the Nahal Oz crossing with Israel, medics said. Ambulances were unable to get to the spot because of continuing fighting.
No Israeli soldiers were reported wounded.
Israel's war on Gaza killed nearly 1,400 Palestinians, mainly civilians, and wounded 5,450 others.
Among the dead were 437 children, 110 women, 123 elderly men, 14 medics and four journalists.
The wounded include 1,890 children.
