Sit-in continues at Israeli embassy in Cairo: 'Give us guns and send us to Sinai'

Hundreds continue to sit-in before the Israeli Embassy in Cairo after a night-long protest over the killing of five Egyptian soldiers in an Israeli border attack.

The demonstrators demanded that authorities expel the Israeli ambassador and sever all ties with Israel as a response. The protesters removed the cement barriers that block the path to the building where the embassy is located and demanded that the Israeli flag be brought down and removed.

Egypt’s government did not issue a response until three hours after midnight, demanding that joint investigations start immediately and that Israel issue an official apology. The Cabinet also stated that it will recall the Egyptian ambassador from Israel as a response.

Thousands of Egyptians, angered by the killings, continued demonstrating through Friday night chanting “Egyptian blood is not cheap" and "Give us guns and send us to Sinai." more

Egyptians continue to keep Gaza's only exit closed

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) – The Gaza Strip’s only exit to the outside world, the Rafah crossing between Egypt and the enclave, was shut down for the second consecutive day on Saturday. Sources at the terminal confirmed to Ma’an that the crossing point was still closed. On Friday, Palestinian official Mahir Abu Sabha said that Egyptian officials at the site informed the Palestinian side it would remain closed until further notice. more

Support striking Palestinian quarry workers demanding their rights from Israeli employer

On 16 June, 35 Palestinian workers at Salit Quarries in Mishor Adumim (in area C, east of Jerusalem, in the Occupied West Bank) began a strike. The workers, organized with the independent union WAC-Ma'an, are demanding an end to exploitation and humiliation, and insist on signing a first collective agreement. Salit Quarries’ main customer is Readymix Industries (Israel).
