Israeli soldiers open fire at Palestinian protesters at Gaza crossing, one injured

JERUSALEM, March 30 (Xinhua) -- One man was wounded Friday when Israeli soldiers used live fire to disperse Palestinian demonstrators who were trying to approach the Gaza Strip's Erez crossing.

An Israeli military spokesman confirmed to Xinhua by phone that a Palestinian youth was wounded in one leg during the clashes.

Israeli media reported earlier that the injured was in serious condition.

The protest is part of the annual Land Day events organized by Israeli Arabs and Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank to denounce Israel's settlement policies. Similar protests were also staged in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Israel proper. more
