Six political prisoners in Palestinian Authority jails now in hunger strike


RAMALLAH, (PIC) -- Two political prisoners joined the open hunger strike launched by the political detainees bringing the number of hunger strikers in PA jails to six detainees held in the preventive security and the general intelligence detention centers of Bethlehem and Ramallah.

Prisoner Islam Aruri launched his hunger strike on Friday in the preventive security prison in Ramallah demanding his release, stated sources close to his family noting that he has been detained since 7 October 2010 on political charges and sentenced to three years.

Another political prisoner from Al-Khalil city, "Abu Anas Markhiyah" who has been held in the general intelligence prisons in Ramallah since 19 December 2011, affirmed joining the empty stomachs battle since last Friday. more
